Valerie Howlett

Valerie Howlett had the amazing opportunity to edit teen books for Chicken Soup for the Soul  after joining the company for a chance internship and then falling back in love with the books she read as a teenager.

She is a graduate of Hampshire College, where she studied theater education, children’s literature and creative writing.  Her youth outreach work includes designing and implementing drama courses for homeschoolers and summer camps, mentoring at a teen educational summer program, and performing in a nonprofit theater company that traveled to schools and community centers throughout the Northern Midwest.

Valerie recently completed Odd Dream, a collection of short stories for children based on Brothers Grimm fairy tales.  She currently works for Bloomsbury Publishing in the children’s division.  She lives in New York.
