About the Boys & Girls Clubs of America

For more than a century, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America have helped put young people on the path to great futures. Boys & Girls Clubs annually serve nearly 4 million young people, through membership and community outreach, in over 4,100 Club facilities throughout the country and BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military installations worldwide.

The BGCA prides itself on being able to provide its young people with a safe place to learn and grow. Here, young people develop ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals who introduce the members to life-enhancing programs and character development experiences. These programs are the cornerstone of the BGCA experience, and their breadth and scope are as dynamic and diverse as its members.

BGCA’s CHARACTER & LEADERSHIP programs help youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills for participating in the democratic process. Their EDUCATION & CAREER programs aim to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career

In its HEALTH & LIFE SKILLS programs, BGCA initiatives develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults. In addition to teaching core life skills, BGCA promotes the study and appreciation of the Arts. Its programs promote the importance of teamwork and provide an educational, engaging and fun experience. Among the more popular programs offered by BGCA are its Sports, Fitness and Recreation programs. These Club programs help develop fitness, a positive use of leisure time, reduction of stress, appreciation for the environment and social and interpersonal skills.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America is proud to offer these programs to America’s youth. In the end, we hope that through these programs we enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
