Meet Joi Gordon

Joi Gordon joined the team at Dress for Success in 1999 and three years later, took over the leadership helm at Dress for Success Worldwide. Under Joi’s leadership, the organization has expanded from a singular brick and mortar location in Manhattan to a global entity, spanning across 160 cities in thirty countries and serving over one million women by giving them the tools they need to achieve lifelong economic independence.

Joi has been dedicated to ensuring that Dress for Success is recognized as a global leader in empowering women in their economic and social development and to expand the organization’s reach — so that more women across the globe will have access to the resources and tools they need to succeed in the workplace. Not only has she expanded the organization geographically, but programmatically as well, providing women with a plethora of programming at all points of their employment development cycle.

Beyond her efforts at Dress for Success, Joi is actively engaged in numerous community engagement initiatives, serving as a member of the Women’s Forum of New York and an executive board member of the Greater Queens Chapter of the Links, Inc. Joi has received an Ellis Island Medal of Honor, been named among Working Mother magazine’s “Most Powerful Moms in Non-profit,” and has been recognized as one of the “25 Most Influential Black Women in Business” by Network Journal Magazine. Additionally, over the span of her nineteen years at Dress for Success, Joi has been honored with numerous civic and community service awards.

Joi received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/Television Broadcasting from the University of Oklahoma and juris doctorate also from the University of Oklahoma’s College of Law. She lives with her husband Errol in Queens. Her greatest joys are her two children, Sydney and Nicholas.
