Who Is Patricia Cena Evans?

From Chicken Soup for the Soul: Empty Nesters

Who Is
Patricia Cena Evans?

Professionally, Patricia is a Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse-Midwife, freelance author, speaker, ministry leader, and mentor. On a personal level, she is most proud of her career as mother and wife, experiencing first-hand her own precious children growing into adults and leaving.

Appreciative of their multiple roles and life-stages, she mentors other women through their life passages from one season to the next, especially those who feel an empty nest is often over-looked and under-realized as a traumatic time. Most importantly, she embodies this pearl of wisdom: You are never alone on your journey.

Patricia lives with her husband and best friend Jack Hankins in Huntington Beach, California. Beginning twenty-three years ago with a blended family — her two children and his three — they now enjoy an empty nest. Although, it seems when they settle in for a quiet weekend, with only peaceful walks and naps on the agenda, the phone rings.

“Are you guys busy?”

“Not really.” Their answer is semi-truthful.

And, suddenly, the house is full of adult kids and grandkids raiding the fridge, wrestling on the floor, and enjoying “just being home.” Patricia and Jack really wouldn’t have it any other way.

Patricia’s sincere hope is that this book’s collection of parenting experiences brings you joy and inspiration. If you would like to share how these stories affect your life, please contact her at:
