From Chicken Soup for the Soul: Just for Preteens

Thank You

We owe huge thanks to all of our contributors. We know that you poured your hearts and souls into the thousands of stories and poems that you shared with us, and ultimately with each other. We appreciate your willingness to open up your lives to other Chicken Soup for the Soul readers and share your own experiences as preteens, which we know was both an exciting and a challenging time in your life. We loved your stories and they brought back our own memories of those years.

We could only publish a small percentage of the stories that were submitted, but we read every single one and even the ones that do not appear in the book had an influence on us and on the final manuscript. Our editor Madeline Clapps, who was a preteen herself just a decade ago, read every submission to this book and put together the manuscript with great care and a real understanding of the kinds of stories that would be most helpful, and also entertaining, for our young readers. Our assistant publisher, D’ette Corona, worked with all the contributors as kindly and competently as always, obtaining their approvals for our edits and the quotations we carefully chose to begin each story. Senior editor Barbara LoMonaco and editor Kristiana Glavin performed their normal masterful proofreading and made sure the book went to the printer on time.

We also owe a very special thanks to our creative director and book producer, Brian Taylor at Pneuma Books, for his brilliant vision for our covers and interiors. Finally, none of this would be possible without the business and creative leadership of our CEO, Bill Rouhana, and our president, Bob Jacobs.
