From Chicken Soup for the Soul: Shaping the New You

Thank You

We owe huge thanks to all of our contributors. We know that you poured your hearts and souls into the thousands of stories and poems that you shared with us, and ultimately with each other. We appreciate your willingness to open up your lives to other Chicken Soup for the Soul readers. And we loved hearing about how you manage your own diet and fitness programs. As we worked on this book, our whole publishing staff found that we were eating better, discussing healthy choices, and exercising more. I personally started eating an apple every day and taking the stairs the three floors from our parking garage to our office.

We could only publish a small percentage of the stories that were submitted, but we read every single one and even the ones that do not appear in the book had an influence on us and on the final manuscript. Thank you so much for sharing your stories on such a personal topic!

Putting together this book was a team effort. I especially thank our editor Kristiana Glavin who read all the stories that were submitted for this book and narrowed down the thousands of submissions to several hundred for me to consider. Our assistant publisher, D’ette Corona, our webmaster and editor, Barbara LoMonaco, and our editor Madeline Clapps worked hard on organizing the manuscript and proofreading it along the way to the printer.

Working with Richard Simmons was a joy and an inspiration. Yes, Richard, I will try to do some straight-leg pushups—at least one!

We owe a very special thanks to our creative director and book producer, Brian Taylor at Pneuma Books, for his brilliant vision for our covers and interiors. Finally, none of this would be possible without the business and creative leadership of our CEO, Bill Rouhana, and our president, Bob Jacobs.
