From Chicken Soup for the Soul: O Canada The Wonders of Winter

Thank You

We owe huge thanks to all of our contributors. We know that you poured your hearts and souls into the stories that you shared with us, and ultimately with each other. As we read and edited these stories, we were truly amazed by your experiences. We appreciate your willingness to share these inspiring and encouraging stories with our readers. We could only publish a small percentage of the stories that were submitted, but we read every single one and even the ones that do not appear in the book had an influence on us and on the final manuscript.

We owe special thanks to Amherstburg, Ontario resident Pam Goldstein, a long-time Chicken Soup for the Soul contributor whose writing we have always admired. We enlisted her help with this collection because we wanted another editor from Canada to work with Janet Matthews, a long-time and accomplished Chicken Soup for the Soul coauthor, and a resident of Aurora, Ontario. Pam read all the stories that were submitted through our website and edited the entire manuscript before Janet and I set to work on it. Working with Janet was a real pleasure and we all learned a lot about Canada from her. Since my husband’s grandmother was a Newfie, and he has dozens of cousins there, we hold a special place in our hearts for all things Canadian.

Janet’s webmaster Tracy Bailey was a big help too. She reconfigured Janet’s websites very quickly to announce Janet’s involvement in this project. Latoya Dickenson, who showed up one day as a volunteer, offered to help Janet in any way she could and was a gift from heaven. Her assistance in contacting writers’ groups across Canada was invaluable.

Our assistant publisher D’ette Corona oversaw this entire project, worked with Janet and Pam to put together the manuscript, and did her normal masterful job of working with the contributors to approve our edits and answer any questions they had. Our senior editor Barbara LoMonaco provided another set of eyes to proofread the manuscript, armed with a list of Canadian spellings so that we didn’t by accident Americanize the book. Our editor Kristiana Pastir oversaw production and worked with our creative director and book producer, Brian Taylor at Pneuma Books, who designed the beautiful cover and interior for this book.

We also want to thank Mike Turnbull and the wonderful team at Simon & Schuster Canada, our distributors in your great land, for suggesting this book and helping us develop the concept.
