Who Is Diana
von Welanetz Wentworth?

Diana von Welanetz Wentworth has enjoyed a celebrated career as an award-winning cookbook author, public speaker and television host.

The six books she authored with her late husband, Paul von Welanetz, include The Pleasure of Your Company (Atheneum), for which they received the coveted French Tastemaker “Cookbook of the Year” award in the category of entertaining. Others were: With Love from Your Kitchen and The Art of Buffet Entertaining (both of which were main selections of the Better Homes and Gardens Book Club), The von Welanetz Guide to Ethnic Ingredients, LA Cuisine and Celebrations (all published by J.P. Tarcher). The von Welanetz Guide to Ethnic Ingredients is still considered the classic reference book of international ingredients. Bon Appétit magazine called it “A splendid work! . . . Just about every exotic, unusual and rare ingredient used in dishes in all corners of the world is covered.”

Diana and Paul’s long-running daily television series, The New Way Gourmet, appeared nationally, first on the Cable Health Network, then on the Lifetime Network.

In 1985, after their return from the First International Peace Congress in the Soviet Union, Diana and Paul founded an organization called The Inside Edge. It is a humanitarian forum and supportive community dedicated to inspiring its members to live lives of boldness, integrity, sharing and cooperation. The Inside Edge meets weekly for breakfast in Southern California, and it was at one morning meeting that Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen decided to do a book of stories together that became Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Paul was diagnosed with cancer shortly after the couples’ 25th wedding anniversary. Before his death, Paul promised to send someone who would treasure Diana as he had. He did, and Diana is now married to medical and human-rights attorney, Theodore S.

Wentworth, who credits Paul with leading him into the arms of his love.

Diana has appeared on national and local television shows, and has spoken to women’s organizations and at culinary events and food fairs throughout the United States. To schedule her for a presentation to your organization or company (without pots and pans!), please write to:
