From Chicken Soup for the Soul Celebrating Mothers and Daughters

Who Is Frances Firman Salorio?

Frances Firman Salorio is a solution-focused marriage and family therapist. She began her work in this field at the Christian Counseling Center in Norwalk, Connecticut, almost twenty years ago. There have been other jobs and other locations in the intervening years, but she always returns to work with this wonderful group of people who see individuals, couples, and families and help them with a wide variety of life issues.

Frances now lives in Amherst, Massachusetts, not far from her parents and her sister. It’s fulfilling to be in close contact with family and to be able to enjoy time with older parents on a regular basis. She travels to visit her terrific children in Maryland and Alberta, far-flung but in close touch. These two adult children (and a very special daughter-in-law) make life interesting and meaningful. When they all visit Amherst and the extended local family gets together, life couldn’t be better.

Luckily, the new home in Amherst isn’t far from the old home in New York, so Frances has not had to give up her book group of more than thirty years. Seeing long-time friends and enjoying intellectual pursuits are monthly highlights (along with two other local book groups). Add swimming to the mix, along with the nieces and nephews who come to the pool in the summer, and life is very rewarding.

Frances says that, as with being a therapist, the experience of working with many authors and hearing their stories and sharing their highs and lows has added depth and learning to life. This second Chicken Soup book has been as rewarding as the first. You can contact Frances at [email protected]
