From Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living with Alzheimer's & Other Dementias

Thank You

We owe huge thanks to all of the people who submitted stories for this book. We know that you poured your hearts and souls into the thousands of stories and poems that you shared with us, and ultimately with other families affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. As we read and edited these stories, we were truly amazed by your strength, your honesty, and your great advice. We appreciate your willingness to share these inspiring and revealing stories with our readers. You are helping millions of people.

We could only publish a small percentage of the stories that were submitted, but we read every single one and even the ones that do not appear in the book had an influence on us and on the final manuscript. We owe special thanks to Brett Armstrong, Senior Associate Director, Editorial & Creative Content at the Alzheimer’s Association, who read all the submissions to this volume, and narrowed down the list to a manageable size. She is a great editor. Chicken Soup for the Soul senior editor Barbara LoMonaco, who lost her own mother to Alzheimer’s, read all the stories as well, and managed the entire process of story selection with a large group of people at the Association who worked on this book in addition to Brett, including Kate Meyer, Monica Moreno, and Jenny Maxse. Thanks also to the staff at the Association who helped promote and collect submissions, including Mary Beth Lantzy, David Lusk, and Emily Shubeck. We are also grateful to Ingrid Wells, who managed the partnership aspects of the project for the Association.

Chicken Soup for the Soul’s VP and assistant publisher D’ette Corona did her normal masterful job of working with the contributors to approve our edits and answer any questions we had. And managing editor and production coordinator Kristiana Pastir proofread and managed the metamorphosis from Word document to printed book.

We also owe a special thanks to creative director and book producer, Brian Taylor at Pneuma Books, for his brilliant vision for the cover and the interior.
