Who Is Dorothy Firman?

Dr. Dorothy Firman is a professor, psychotherapist, life coach, author, consultant, speaker, and trainer. She has worked in the field of psychology for more than thirty years. Dorothy is a key-note speaker and offers workshops and seminars on a variety of topics. She has coauthored with her mother and sister Chicken Soup for the Mother and Daughter Soul and Chicken Soup for the Soul, Celebrating Mothers and Daughters. She has also coauthored Daughters and Mothers, Healing the Relationship. She has appeared on Oprah and many local and national television and radio programs.

Dorothy is a founding member of the Association for the Advancement of Psychosynthesis, a spiritual psychology that offers people the opportunity to deepen their experience of aliveness, presence, and the ability to serve. Through the Synthesis Center, a nonprofit educational organization cofounded by Jack Canfield in 1976, Dorothy has taught psychosynthesis to helping professionals for twenty-five years.

Dorothy has been married for over thirty years to her best friend and coauthor, Ted Slawski. They have worked together in a variety of settings and have three wonderful adult children and three incredible grandchildren.
