Flying Solo

To do anything truly worth doing, I must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in with gusto and scramble through as well as I can.

~Og Mandino

I don’t see a light upon this path.
I can’t find the footprints in the snow.
No one holds the door open for me.
No one’s here to tell me where to go.

I’ve got to find my own way in this world.
I can’t depend on anyone but me.
I’ve got to accept the person I am.
I’ve got to know what I want to be.

But I’m afraid that failure will prevail.
And I’m not yet ready for this.
I’m terrified I’ll shoot for the fullest moon,
And for all the stars,

And miss.

So I’ve got to wait till the sky is clear.
Wait till the climb gets steep.

Gather my courage, take a breath, close my eyes...

And leap!
