I wrote this when I was in love and none of my friends or family liked him. No one approved; no one thought he was good enough for me. I stayed with him anyway, but I was caught in the middle. It was hard to hear the negative comments people would make about him.

As a result, I spent all of my time with him. We were in a little world of our own and it’s sweet when you have that and it makes a sweet love song, but there’s a danger attached to it. When you’re in it, you don’t realize that you are alienating others. I was in a sea of denial.

I wrote this song after we had just had an argument about my being in the studio too late, and I had no one to talk to about it.

“Sweet Baby”

Many times I’ve been told that I should go,

But they don’t know

What we got baby.

They may not see the love in you,

The love I do,

And I’ll stay right here.

Ummm sweet, sweet baby,

Life is crazy

But there’s one thang

I am sure of,

That I’m your lady

Always baby

And I love you now and ever.

Suga, wishes don’t change what is real

Or how it feels

In the bad times

For whatever he is, he is mine all the time

And we get by with our true love.

Ummm sweet, sweet baby,

Life is crazy

But there’s one thang

I am sure of,

That I’m your lady

Always baby

And I love you now and ever.

Ummm, sweet baby, life is crazy

But there’s one thang

I am sure of,

See, I’m your lady

Always baby

And I love you now and ever.

Baby would I ever find, my sweet

Just a true love, my sweet

That we come this far together.

Baby, so I’m here to stay

’Cause without you baby

I can’t go any further.

Ummm sweet baby

Life is crazy

But there’s one thang

I am sure of.

See, I, I’m your lady

Always baby baby.

Mah mah ever

It’s not that ever

Mah mah ever

It’s not that ever

Mah mah sweet sweet baby,

Life is so sweet with you,

Sweet with you.
