From Chicken Soup for the Soul Daily Inspirations for Women

November 8

W hile shopping at a toy store, I came upon a little girl who was looking through Barbie dolls. She had a roll of money clamped in her hand, and each time she saw one she liked, she asked her father if she had enough money to buy it. He usually said “yes,’” but she would keep going through the ritual.

Soon she stopped to watch a boy who was also shopping with his father and kept picking up Pokémon video games. Each time he picked one up, his father shook his head “no.”

The boy gave up and chose what looked like a book of stickers. The little girl ran to the Pokémon games, picked one up and got in the checkout line after speaking with her father. The little boy and his father got in line behind me.

After the toy was paid for, the little girl handed it back to the cashier and whispered something to her. As the boy and his father came up, the cashier rang up his purchases and said, “Congratulations, you are my hundredth customer today, and you win a prize!”
