From Chicken Soup for the Soul Daily Inspirations for Women

November 12

In the gray light of early morning I’m lost at the computer, focusing hard on today’s writing goal. The door scrapes open, and my three-year-old granddaughter breaks my concentration. Jessica pushes the door shut behind her, crawls into my chair and stands up behind me. My fingers go back to the keys. She peers over my shoulder.

Bored with the lack of action on the screen, she lifts my hair. Then, using both hands, she scoops my tousled hair completely over my head. She holds her breath a moment, eyes wide, then dissolves into giggles.

So do I, and that’s the end of my writing session for today. Total production: two paragraphs, one unusable.

Funny how the things we love most require some tithe or sacrifice. Chocolate is full of fat and calories. Technology makes life easier, but complicates at the same time. I can’t wait for my granddaughter and her family to visit, but when they do, I have to get up in the middle of the night to get my writing done.
