From Chicken Soup for the Working Mom's Soul

You Are So Special to Me

You have loved me since you met me
I was only five weeks old

When mommy went to work
You were there for me to hold

I thank you for your loving arms
That keep me safe all day

For taking care of me so well
In your special loving way

I know you’re not my mommy
Though you treat me as your own

I am so blessed to have you
And will love you till I’m grown

I know I’m just a baby
And I need you by my side

To teach me how to do things
And which rules I must abide

I think you are my special angel
Your wings I cannot see

For all these things and more you do
You are so special to me

POSTSCRIPT: Being a working mom it is such a blessing when you find someone who cares for and loves your child as much as you do. I dedicate this poem to all the day-care providers who give so much of themselves to the children they care for. Every day I thank God for blessing me and my son, Justice, with an angel of our own to watch over him.
