From Chicken Soup for the Mother of Preschooler's Soul

When I’m a Grown-Up

When I’m a grown-up

I’ll stand high off the ground.

My parents won’t nag me

Or boss me around.

I’ll run through the garden

And wear dirty clothes.

I’ll play in the mud

And put bugs in my nose.

I’ll call all my friends

In London and France,

And run through the house

With no underpants.

I’ll stand on my head

And look at my toes.

My socks will have holes

And no one will know.

I’ll stay in the bathtub

For hours on end.

I’ll throw me a party

And invite my best friends.

When I’m a grown-up

I’ll stand proud and tall,

And remember the time

When I was just small.
