David Tabatsky

David Tabatsky is a writer, editor, teacher, director and performing artist. He was the Consulting Editor for Marlo Thomas and her New York Times bestseller, The Right Words at the Right Time, Volume 2: Your Turn (Atria Books 2006).

David has published two editions of What's Cool Berlin, a comic travel guide to Germany's capital and written for The Forward, Parenting and Sesame Street Parent. He has written and directed A Whole Lotte Lenya, a one-woman show inspired by the legendary actress and wife of Kurt Weill, which debuted at The Gene Frankel Theatre in New York, and Standing in the Fuhrer's Slippers, a work of historical fiction based on the life of Hitler's housekeeper, with touring scheduled for 2010.

David has worked professionally in theatre and circus as an actor, clown and juggler, appearing in New York at Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Beacon Theatre and throughout the United States, Europe, Russia and Japan, including his critically acclaimed solo performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

He played a significant role in the resurgence of the Varietémovement in Germany, with original shows at the Chamaleon in Berlin and the Schmidt in Hamburg, among others. He also directed Kinderzirkus Taborka at the renowned Tempodrom in Berlin. David has taught and directed for the American School of London, die Etage in Berlin, the Big Apple Circus School, the United Nations International School and The Cathedral of St. John the Divine. He serves on the theatre faculty at Adelphi University and is a teaching artist for The Henry Street Settlement with a focus on special education. He currently works with writers, developing memoirs, editing fiction and creating non-fiction projects of all kinds.
