Nancy Burrows

Co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul: Raising Kids on the Spectrum

Nancy Burrows is a freelance writer who graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Nancy spent years writing and producing for advertising agencies and television networks such as PBS, Nickelodeon, and TV Land. She married her high school sweetheart in 1995. His surgical training led them from New York to Missouri to Minnesota — and finally to Maryland. They currently live in Baltimore, with their fourteen-year-old daughter, Allie, and eleven-year-old son, James.

When James was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder at two and a half, Nancy put her career on hold to focus on researching and implementing an early intervention plan. Raising Allie and James, and acting as mom/therapist/advocate was a full-time job for eight all-consuming years. Now, Nancy is thrilled to be a part of this book, putting her creative skills to work on a project that has tremendous personal meaning for her family. In her stories, "James 101" and "Bedtime Routine," she hopes readers will get a sense of James’s quirky charm.
